The former tax official joint the alternative lifestyle with his wife Susanne, but both had affairs with other participants. Julia Fedder, who found him, started the commune with husband Mark, Susanne and carpenter Enno Gerwald, the only one who didn't put up 50,000 Euros capital but offered to work his share off in roofing, but Thorstan found his offer was way above market price. Neighbor Jochen Köhre wanted the land to expand but Stein found out about his subsidy fraud and he blackmailed Stein about his affair with Julia Fedder.
