Kate has had no luck in getting a confession out of BENEDICT SPENCER, a mid-20-year-old man, who is under trial for murdering his ex-girlfriend, SARAH, who is also Kate's daughter. Jane, a theatre artist by profession, is promised a better offer in the acting business by Kate in exchange for her services to impersonate Sarah and dupe Benedict into confessing the truth.
