Sergeant Jack Magnus is brought out of retirement to serve his country one last time. Three high school friends find themselves in the middle of a dangerous landscape, as they make their way to the so called "boarders" in order to escape the city. As United States General Carver is given ultimate power over the scorched territory, there are some within his ranks who refuse his commands. The dead walk the quiet neighborhoods of the city.
