Nick...See moreCathy gives effusive declarations to Matt about her gratitude to him for letting her return to work, and she promises that she won't disappoint him. Next, she phones Steve to arrange a meeting, but he begs off by saying he's too busy. Nick informs Adam Reynolds his intention to have his marriage to Cathy annulled, though only after Hank's surgery. Martha thinks that 1973 will be a great year for Nick. She hopes that he will go to Althea to reconcile their differences. Nick insists that he'll only find happiness without any dames in his life. Matt gives the same speech to Althea, who declares that she needs a vacation from men. Harold Baylor, Althea's irritable patient, attempts to switch his case to Maggie. When she says there's no reason because he's getting excellent care from Althea, he becomes agitated. Althea arrives to hear the end of the conversation. Later, she and Maggie wonder if Baylor could benefit from a psychiatric consult with John, since his pain appears psychological instead of physical. In the lab, Cathy gives Nick the same song and dance routine about being sorry for her behavior and grateful that he's being so good to her. She insists that she can't move forward until she receives Steve's forgiveness, but he won't talk to her.
