It's because of his past lies and deceptions. But, John vows he's through being dishonest no matter what gain he might receive from it. He declares that the whole world will know the second he's able to move a single toe. Carolee overhears Steve's phone call to Jason who grudgingly agrees to keep Steve's secret from Mona. After he hangs up, Carolee worries that if he doesn't tell Mona everything now, it will blow up in their faces later. Matt agrees that John can return to work at Hope Memorial on Monday. With Matt gone, John quickly phones Cathy with the news that he's regained sensation in his lower extremities and a little bit in his knees. He knows that he'll soon be walking again. Emma surprises a pleasant Mona with a bouquet of fresh yellow roses. Carolee attempts to mend the growing rift between her and Mona, but she only makes the situation worse. Althea also tries to patch things up with Nick, though she maintains that John has changed and is being honest when he says he still can't feel anything. Nick laughs at Althea's naivete.
