Hendryx goes to see Matt again, still angry that Matt overruled his decision to pull Hank from assisting in Maggie's surgery. His anger only intensifies after Matt informs him that Nick is going to be more active in neurosurgery again. A casual meeting between Carolee and Cathy turns hostile when Carolee continues to reject Cathy's criticism of Steve. During the quarrel, Cathy suddenly experiences abdominal pain. Later, Steve tells Carolee that he agreed to return Erich to Karen, but he hopes he hasn't made a mistake in view of Karen's history of breaking promises to him. An angry Hendryx goes to the lab to have it out with Nick, who isn't there. Hendryx curtly instructs Martha to tell Nick that he's coming back again for some straight answers.
