Matt approves surgery for tomorrow with Hank assisting, and because it brought good luck with Althea and Rico, Nick wants operating room 3. Andrew invites Emma to dinner and dancing at the Chanticeer Room to give Carolee and his daughter Dorothy something to really cluck about it. Toni offers Martha her speculation that Vito was using the application to Hope Memorialsoley to get ahead in his own job at Municipal. Matt phones Nick, requesting that he return to his office immediately. When Nick arrives, he finds Dr. Hendryx, to whom he must defend his choice of Hank to assist in Maggie's surgery. When Hendryx refuses to allow it, he and Nick get into a shouting match as Matt watches. However, Matt overrules Hendryx, who stalks out seething with anger. Privately, Matt admits that Hendryx is a gifted surgeon who started out well at Hope, but somewhere along the way, his personality changed. Nick suggests that Hendryx needs someone to teach him the right way, and he's the man to do it. Matt proposes that Nick go back into neurosurgery a little more actively. In fact, he has an idea. If Nick agrees to return to surgery, he could still supervise the research lab with another doctor running it. Nick says he knows just the man and initiates a call to Vito in New York.
