John says he doesn't believe either Nick or Althea after Nick swears that he and Althea haven't slept together. Nick goes out of John's room in a huff, assigning Hank to perform John's final release tests. He subsequently phones Althea, insisting that he see her to talk about John. Carolee arrives at Karen's apartment, where Steve tells her about the overdose. Karen begins to come around and begs Steve to believe that the overdose was accidental. Steve and Carolee recall the previous time Karen overdosed, and Steve refuses to accept that this time was another accident. He admits that even if it were an accident, Karen is unstable. Erich could've been in danger, and Steve intends to do something about it. Following a meeting with Nick, who told her about John's accusations, an angry Althea confronts John, warning him to never set foot in her apartment again. Hank interrupts them to perform reflex tests on John. John is afraid and Althea appears skeptical when Hank realizes that John doesn't have any sensation in his legs.
