Nick stops by the Aldrich apartment to tell Steve his theory that Maggie has basalar arachnoiditis. Steve informs Nick that Cathy wants her medical records and still intends to have the baby. Erich's nursemaid phones Steve when Karen won't answer the door. Cathy pumps Althea for information about John, and just as she's about to ask Althea something else, they're interrupted by a cool Nick. Emma tries to tell Carolee about the evening she and Andrew spent in Wyndham Falls, but Carolee is too distracted by thoughts of Steve at Karen's apartment. Althea tells Nick the latest development with John, then they kiss again. Nick has something he wants to tell Althea later tonight over dinner. Steve gains access to Karen's apartment, finds her unconscious, and discovers the empty pill bottle. He manages to rouse her to consciousness, giving her the choice between black coffee or a stomach pump. Steve orders Karen to talk, and she begins to ramble about Matt, how she loves him and didn't know that Maggie was sick. Steve phones Carolee to come over immediately.
