Edna defends Althea by saying that it probably never occurred to her to phone her husband, and John says that's exactly the point. Karen asks Eric if he'd like to call Matt "Daddy" and thinks to herself that she could offer Matt real happiness if he only he didn't have to keep up the pretense of a happy marriage with Maggie. However, Karen is later annoyed to learn from Steve that Matt and Maggie are going to Trinidad for a second honeymoon. Nick stops by to pick up Edna for their dinner date, and while she readies herself, he and Althea laugh about old times. At dinner, Edna notices when Nick tries hard to diplomatically dodge her questions about John.
