Talking about the lithium project with Toni, Martha suddenly realizes that Nick is in a race with John to find a cure for Greta, because Nick wants to win Althea back. Martha cautions Toni that Nick isn't a quiet loser at love. After Carolee grouses to Emma about Dan's cat-and-mouse games and how he manipulates her like a puppet, Emma suggests that maybe the strain is causing Carolee to be overly sensitive. Althea assures John that she likes where they are now much better than the cruise because now it's real.
