Six hundred African American youths between the ages of 10-19 came from New York City to Vermont to meet with and interact with 600 Vermont youths for the purpose of promoting better race relations between the two groups. This project was Vermont's response to the Report of the National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorders, chaired by Otto Kerner and published in 1968 (aka the Kerner report). Scenes take place at the Old Round Church in Richmond, Vermont, and at Lyndon State College as well as in New York City; interviews are conducted with the youths and others. The film also features a short speech by Vermont's then-Governor Phillip Hoff, who speaks about the project at the church in Richmond. See less
