Balsa is injured in a fight with these agents and Tanda, a childhood friend of Balsa, and an apprentice magic weaver, is led to her in the forest and treats her wounds. He joins them as they continue to flee. Shuga, the star reader meets Torogai the magic weaver who tells him about Nayugu spirit eggs. Shuga returns to the palace to share what he has learned. He then seeks the first master star reader's secret chronicle to learn the true history of the kingdom but others in the castle do not want this history revealed. In the village of Yashiro, Balsa and the Prince learn more about the spirit eggs and about Rarunga, an evil spirit, who wants to eat the eggs. The fate of Chagum's mother after helping the Prince escape is revealed. We find out more about Balsa's youth in a series of flashbacks. Written by dirkjungquist See less
