Hope Memorial receives a new prize package in its public relations department. Nick touches a nerve with Althea in the lab, leading to a chilly squabble. Tired of all the tension, Steve states his case to Nick, who admits that his marriage is filled with a series of "blue zeroes." Althea grouses to Carolee about Nick's impatience, but Carolee assures her that things will improve at her impromptu dinner party. Matt dictates a letter to the hospital board that could end Mike's hospital career as well as his own. The dinner party at Carolee's apartment doesn't yield its intended results.
