Together, they spent the first 10 years of his life in and out of shelters until she abandoned him at Lighthouse, a women's shelter in central LA. Gloria, the woman in charge of the shelter, took him in and raised him as her own. He left Gloria's care as a teenager, only to return years later, having experienced the worst of the world. He now works as a handyman and guardian at Lighthouse. Quiet but powerful, Luis spends his days trying to make up for his past mistakes. Beautiful and broken. Life had promised so much and delivered so little. Born in a small mountain town in Honduras, she always imagined herself made for grander things. Looking for opportunity, she made her way to the States at the age of 17. The journey cost her a lot, more than just all the money she had. It cost Elena her innocence.
