Afraid that this might ruined her only friendship she leaves her feelings alone but it becomes noticeable that something's wrong when she starts acting strange around him. Things get even weirder when Austin breaks up with his long term girlfriend Anna because he's in love with her too, just when things should be going perfect for the new couple Anna decides that she's not okay with their relationship and attempts to make Nye's life a living hell; starting off with what ends up being months' worth of depression and social anxiety for Nye. Months later Nye is in a really bad place and to make matters worse rumors are flying around the school that Austin is being unfaithful with the head cheerleader Jenna Moore, unable to cope physically or mentally she plans her own death as a backup plan if the rumors are true, but when she's pulled aside by her media teacher Mr Jackson who at first is worried about her she denies anything is wrong, she intends to follow through with her suicidal plans, however when she hears about a new anti-bullying scheme at school she decides to give it a go. The next day she feels anxious about opening up about her troubles but then when she meets her anti bullying Counsellor Kenny she feels more confident and confides in her about everything, over the course of a few weeks Kenny and Nye become incredibly close and Kenny introduces her to her group of friends; Kristen, Francesca, Campbell and Jack who instantly take her under their wing and prove to her that there is a happier way to live life. To welcome her to the group they take her out for dinner but when Austin shows up with Jenna things quickly escalate and punches are thrown between Campbell, Jack and Austin.
