Observation balloons were sent up to locate the enemy's position, the terrific shell fire being directed by telephone; (4) The Germans could no longer stand the terrible bombardment and came running toward our trench with their bands up, calling "Kamarad! Kamarad!" (5) Notwithstanding unfavorable weather conditions, our aviators took a brilliant part in the fighting; (6) Bringing down two enemy planes; (7) Late this afternoon a battalion passed us on their return after capturing the village of Rancourt.
