A freak storm forces Daniel to prolong his stay in the shadowy inn and each night he hears the eerie, nocturnal playing of the elusive and mysterious Erich Zann from the upstairs chamber. Daniel decides to make the old man's acquaintance and soon gains the impression that Zann is stark, raving mad but still Zann's music holds an odd fascination over him and he decides to delve deeper into the mystery of Erich Zann's music.
