The short film was conceptualized as a precursor to a feature documentary that explores the many connotations of the hard-to-pin-down phenomenon of silence through several character studies. Part documentary and part fiction, For Silence presents itself as a hybrid storytelling experiment as it features an existing ghost town and its history and merges it with the journey of a fictional character portrayed by actor Thomas Orr-Loney. For Silence aims to evoke a consciousness for the ambiguous phenomenon of silence that can be experienced in many different ways, from comforting or illuminating, to oppressive and dangerous.
