However Serena recalls her affair with the bullying Marcus,whom she knew she was sharing with Poppy though only Poppy was convicted of his slaying. At the time Poppy felt the need for solidarity because of his violence but Serena rejected it. Possibly because of this she does not report Poppy though she later finds that Poppy has engineered a meeting with Vee as well as spying on the house at night. Al agrees to help Poppy prove her innocence and suggests they trace Marcus's girlfriend at the time Marlene.
