All she ever wanted was a child, she explains to a beggar who comes to her house for food. The beggar promptly turns into the Marvellous Magician and gives her a special seed which blooms into a tiny girl, Thumbelina. Percival becomes increasingly jealous of Thumbelina and arranges for a bullfrog to kidnap her.
