Unfortunately, there is no news of Diego Sanabria. Trejo has declared his love to Maria before disembarking. However, Mencía is not for the work of marriage, since the plans for her daughter are to marry Captain Salazar, not Trejo. Finally, Maria achieves her purpose and Fray Carrillo officiates an impromptu ceremony to bless their marriage. Alonso and Pelayo meet some aborigines who are not very happy about their presence and even less who try to steal their food. Salazar asks Alonso not to say anything about the attack of the Tupi to avoid endangering the expedition.
