Teresa, the main character, is torn between her desire to 'grow up' and her need to be close to her mother, Bonnie, who is emotionally dependent on her. Bonnie disapproves of Teresa's boyfriend Drew; but perhaps her greatest fear is losing her daughter. Teresa tries to please everyone - Drew and her mom - while emotionally deciding whether to accept Drew's proposal of marriage even though she fears alienating her mom whom she loves. Through the wise advice of a beloved, but critically ill Aunt Gladys, both mother and daughter come to realize that letting go doesn't mean absolute separation. Written by Anonymous See less
