Billy tries to be optimistic, but Joanna is a no go. Billy and Joanna have been staying at Joanna's Aunt Emily's place while Emily is in London. Joanna points out that they have two more weeks to look. Billy tells Joanna that with his salary they could barely afford the dump they just looked at. Joanna says she knows she has to get a job. Billy suggests she work at her mother, Barbara's store. Joanna says that she wants something more challenging. Joanna kisses Billy and leaves to go and have lunch with her mother. When Joanna gets to the store Barbara is in chaos. Joanna fixes a display and impressed, Barbara offers Joanna a job. Joanna points out that the only reason Barbara wants to hire her is so Barbara can spend more time with Joanna. Barbara's feelings are hurt and Joanna apologizes. Barbara points out with all the chaos that she really can use another employee. Joanna meets up with Billy and tells her that Barbara offered her a job which thrills Billy, but Joanna tells Billy she declined the offer because she wants more of a challenge. As they get to Emily's front door they are shocked that Emily has come home two weeks early. Emily assures Billy and Joanna that her wedding gift of her apartment for two weeks is still on. Emily's business in London finished early and she tells them that she will stay in a hotel. Billy and Joanna insist she stay and have dinner with them. Billy takes Emily's suitcases and puts them in her room. While Joanna and Emily are preparing dinner, Emily tells Joanna about a former flame, Steven Davies that she ran into while in London. Barbara is invited to dinner and as the dinner gets going Emily introduces everyone to Steven. Emily asks Joanna if she has found work. Of course Barbara says Joanna is needed in the store and Emily interjects that working in a store is not challenging enough for Joanna. Steven says that a friend of his works for a magazine and may be able to offer Joanna something there. The evening ends. The next day Emily and Steven invite Joanna and Billy to an exclusive club to play tennis. Billy is very uncomfortable and Steven coaches Billy on his game. Emily and Steve win the match. The foursome sit and have iced tea. Billy invites Steven and Emily to play softball on Sunday. Emily coaxes Steven to say yes and Steven says he has not played softball in a very long time. Billy replies that nobody is really any good, its all just fun. Joanna can sense that Billy is up to something. Billy and Joanna thank Steven and Emily and they are off. Joanna promised to have lunch with her girlfriends Sharon and Cookie. Billy heads to his folks home to help out his Dad. Joanna goes window shopping with Cookie and Sharon. Joanna tells them about how exciting a life Emily and Steven have. Billy visits with his Mom, sister and brother and then helps his Dad around the house. Lying in bed awake while Billy is sleeping, Joanna hears Emily coming in. Joanna heads downstairs and talks with Emily about her date with Steven. Emily says that she and Steven give each other space. Joanna is confused if that is what Emily really wants. On Sunday is the softball game. There is a lot of tension between Steven and Billy as they compete against each other. Steven hits the ball and runs to first then second base where Billy is playing. Steven goes to slide into second base and Billy ends up hitting Steven. Joanna runs to Steven and berates Billy. Billy and Joanna end up arguing in front of everyone. Billy says that Joanna is changing before their eyes and that she is making Billy feel like he is not good enough for her. Billy ends up leaving the ball field without Joanna. Steven drives Emily and Joanna back to Emily's. Joanna is disappointed that Billy is not there. Steven and Emily talk and Emily realizes that Steven is not really that interested in her. Steve tells Emily that when she gets back from Mexico City to give him a call. Joanna asks Emily if she can borrow her car, that she has an errand to run. Billy arrives at his folks home and has a chat with Cathy, his mother. Billy gripes that Joanna wants to travel. Cathy says that he should not let Joanna give up on her dreams and tells Billy a story about when she and Bert were first married. Billy arrives at Emily's apartment and Joanna is not there. Billy drives to the apartment that he and Joanna were looking at the other day. Billy finds out that the apartment is no longer available. Billy goes to look inside the window of the apartment and sees Joanna. Billy goes inside and realizes that Joanna has leased the apartment. Written by Sudsluva See less
