They steal his pelts and then kill the old man. Jonathan Banner and Pierre Falcon investigate the murder, just as the murdered man's son arrives at the fort, demanding vengeance for his father in the name of God. Banner discovers the real killers by investigating recent transactions at local trading posts. They catch Brockton and Ames and bring them to justice, but the son is killed during the confrontation.
