She decides to accept the challenge and run the hotel - much to the displeasure of her domineering and scheming mother-in-law, Dora. When Veronika finds a charming admirer in the hotel guest Sebastian Claasen, she has no idea that he is actually supposed to be spying on the "Schwarzwaldhof" for the takeover by a large corporation - a welcome opportunity for Dora to boot out her daughter-in-law. In the family film of the same name, everything revolves around the "Schwarzwaldhof" hotel, the focal point and point of contention for everyone involved, such as: Saskia Vester, Rosel Zech, Oliver Stokowski, Tim Morten Uhlenbrock and Miriam Morgenstern. Veronika Hofer, married and mother of two almost grown children, is at a crossroads in her life: After her husband Curt had an affair, the couple grew apart, and although they still get along well, Veronika now wants to take the decisive step and leave her husband . She also wants to finally retire from working in the family's 4-star hotel. But then Curt dies in a tragic hiking accident - and so Veronika is suddenly faced with the decision of whether she should stick to her decision as the main heir and turn her back on the hotel. To the great surprise of her family, she decides to take up the challenge and take over the running of the business. Above all, Curt's stepmother Dora is anything but enthusiastic about the project. The strict family patriarch had hoped to finally be rid of her unloved daughter-in-law and to be able to run the "Schwarzwaldhof" according to her own ideas. Therefore, she lets Veronika, who is still inexperienced in management issues, feel very clearly how unwelcomed she is in the hotel. But with diligence, willpower and ambition, Veronika quickly manages to familiarize herself with everyday hotel life. While her daughter Merle also lends a hand in the "Schwarzwaldhof", Veronika's rebellious son Stefan threatens to ruin his own future with illegal business. Meanwhile, Veronika finds a very charming admirer in hotel guest Sebastian Claasen. What she doesn't know: Sebastian is no ordinary tourist, but is supposed to spy on the house on behalf of a large hotel chain for a takeover. In his offer, Dora finally sees her chance to get rid of Veronika once and for all - she would rather sell the traditional hotel than share the management with her daughter-in-law. Only when it is almost too late does Veronika find out about Sebastian's plan and Dora's intrigue. Disappointed, she turns away from Sebastian and takes up the fight against Doris.
