Joseph sets out to prove this and in so doing Jac's ruthless ambition shows itself in Lord Byrne's company. Ric tells Jac that he won't support her application for lo-cum consultant. Jac goes to Lord Byrne and asks him to recommend her for a position at Bath NHS but he tells her he will only recommend her to a hospital which is a huge distance from him. Lord Byrne's heart deteriorates and an embolism is discovered. Connie operates but cannot save Lord Byrne and he dies. Elsewhere, Donna is intrigued by Category A prisoner John Kitto and Abra tells Ric that if he supports his plans for his night surgeries he will take Thandie on as a surgeon on the team.
