Later, when the Bingle poodle is ill, its distracted mistress asks that Dr. Bill be sent for. When the doctor arrives to treat "Violet," who the note leads him to believe is the pretty daughter, he is surprised and indignant at finding that "Violet" is a canine. Though his professional pride is injured, Cynthia's charms win him over. Later, when asked to call again at the Bingle home to treat "Cynthia, who has been injured." he goes prepared with a complete veterinary outfit, only to be again surprised in finding that "Cynthia" is the pretty daughter. Cynthia then explains that she has not been hurt at all but Dr. Bill then sees his opportunity, takes Cynthia in his arms, and soon wins her father over.
