McLean Stevenson comes out and recites a brief poem (that doesn't rhyme) which he claims he wrote in sixth grade. After giving a list of his upcoming appearances, he reads a newspaper ad for a local appearance by the as-yet-unknown André the Giant. He then discusses his upcoming gig at the Las Vegas Hilton opening for Glen Campbell, and talks about his first job as a writer for Campbell's TV show. George Carlin does a stand-up comedy routine, including a segment presented as a news broadcast. During the interview he talks about living in New York, and how the TV reception used to have many "ghost" images due to the poor reception from indoor antennas. When Gene Hackman comes out, Stevenson first interjects how Hackman (and Donald Pleasance) are his favorite actors. Hackman then talks about his film "The Conversation", in which he plays a surveillance/wiretapping expert. A clip is shown. He also says he got a lot of unusual phone calls when he had Wilt Chamberlain's old phone number, and comments on the bad ideas he was offered for a "Poseidon Adventure" sequel. Gloria DeHaven comes out wearing a fancy dress, since she learned she would be the only female guest. She says she is against women's lib, calling herself a follower rather than a leader who prefers men who take charge of situations. Then comes a lengthy discussion of perfume and body scent, and how Americans may be in error by masking their natural scent with chemicals. She then mentions being a grandmother, and goes on to talk about performing with Sammy Davis Jr., including the night he collapsed due to fatigue. Written by lenab9011 See less
