The crew of a sailing vessel is in attendance at the performance and the tough mate is egged on by the skipper's daughter to prove his boasted prowess in the ring. The mate is flattened in jig time and claims he is the victim of an unfair referee. That night the Kid is kidnapped by members of the crew and brought aboard the ship. Joe, his manager and Tommy, his trainer scent the plot and hasten to the ship. They are bound, as is the Kid, until the mate gets ready for his return bout. Despite his unfair tactics, the mate is again the humiliated victim of a thorough beating.
