In the first few minutes of the broadcast, the news breaks that Peter Carpenter has escaped. A policeman has been assigned to each of the girls, but Jessica can't stand having a constant bodyguard and, alluding him, manages to get caught by Peter. Peter believes he has Liz until he see's Liz make a plea for Jessica's life on "Frankly Speaking". Peter contacts Elizabeth to make the switch. To safeguard himself, he sets up a timed death trap for Jessica. The police once again catch Peter, but now it's a race against the clock for the whole gang to find Jessica before it's too late.
