The day after Stobbe is found killed and in his pocket the police finds a paper with Berger's name and address: the attorney is arrested with the accusation of murder, just while he was attending a trial where his counterpart was represented by Dr. Franck, who accepts to defend him. Berger admits that Stobbe had blackmailed him some hours after the accident and that he met him just where he was later found dead, but rejects any involvement in the murder.
