He incurs the displeasure of the bouncer in the Blue Bird cafe and in the chase that follows the bouncer is knocked out by a falling telegraph pole. Eddie gets credit by the proprietor for the knockout and falls heir to the bouncer's job, which he holds only until the original bouncer comes to and has time to recruit his gang.
