With the same sponsor, "Beechnut Gum", NBC sought to pick up on the audience that The Saturday Dick Clark Show left behind. The series presented live Pop and R n R acts performing to a teen studio audience. The NBC Orchestra backed up the performers who didn't have their own instrumental accompaniment.
