Ed's mother finds the note and thinking it is intended for Ed's father proceeds to look into matters....See moreEd, Ethel's beau, going out in the morning, accidentally leaves behind him a note from Ethel asking him to take her to luncheon that day. Ed's mother finds the note and thinking it is intended for Ed's father proceeds to look into matters. Meanwhile, Ed has called on his father to announce his intentions of marrying the fascinating stenographer. But father cannot see it at all. Ed calls for Ethel and they go to luncheon. A few minutes later, his father enters Hadley's office meaning to talk Ethel out of the match. Seeing a client of the lawyer's leaving the place, he follows her, believing her to be Ethel. She chances to enter the same restaurant where Ed and Ethel are. Ed, seeing his father coming, slips under the table, and is delighted to hear father entering into animated conversation with Ethel, who evidently is making a hit. Meanwhile, Ed's mother has traced her husband to Hadley's office. Learning that Ethel has gone out to luncheon with a gentleman, she hastens on to the café. At her approach, it is father's turn to get under the table, where he and Ed are brought unexpectedly face to face.
