It traces her Southern childhood, beauty pageant career, move to Hollywood (a cross-country drive with her grandmother, in a U-Haul she didn't know how to put into reverse!), early TV roles like "Filthy Rich," stardom on the hit 1986 sitcom "Designing Women," and her marriage to fellow actor and Southernor Gerald McRaney. It also explores her scandalous 1991 firing from "Designing Women," which alienated her from the show's actors and producers. Delta struggled to get her career back on track and battled depression -- this funny, warm, and beautiful survivor has gone on to appear in a number of other comedy series and TV-movies (This special is narrated by Delta's friend - and fellow beauty queen - Mary Ann Mobley).
