Anyone who has had this experience can appreciate the position of the poor immigrant in the scene before us, who has come to this country with his little girl and is stricken with a debilitating sickness and, unable to take care of his little one, is advised by the doctor to give the child for adoption to a wealthy family who have advertised for a little girl of her age. The poor father is rent through with the thought of his child's welfare and his own love for her. At length he consents, and the doctor brings the family who have advertised to the man's home, papers are signed and the little girl is taken to a home of luxury and wealth and given every advantage possible. Taken to the hospital, the poor immigrant recovers his health, secures employment, and fifteen years later is a partner in a business, and a very successful man. The wealthy man who adopted the immigrant's child is in financial trouble and calls upon the business partner of the immigrant for relief. The immigrant overhears the conversation, recognizes the man as his daughter's adopted father, gets his address and as soon as possible calls at his home. He offers his assistance, loans him the money he needs, makes himself known to the man of wealth, who tells his daughter that his friend in time of need is her own father, who sacrificed her on the altar of love to his care and protection when she was a little child. The daughter puts her arms about the men's necks, kisses one, then the other, and says: "I have two fathers, and I love them both." Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
