On the return of the younger son, Joe, from college an old-fashioned country barn dance is planned and Jim carries invitations to all the neighbors. During the dance Jim becomes unjustly jealous of his brother, who has paid marked attention to Rose. The boys quarrel and Jim refuses to take his girl home. Still brooding over the quarrel with his brother, Jim resolves to get even and when Joe returns he is threatened with a shot gun, Jim realizes what he is about to do, and throwing down the gun, runs out of the house. After Joe sorrowfully retires, the lamp in the sitting room explodes and the house is soon a mass of flames. Jim sees the fire, runs to the house and dashes in. It is the work of a moment to seize his half-suffocated brother, drag him to an upper window and lower him down from the porch roof to the onlookers below. Jim, seared with the flames, collapses and is carried to the barn where his sweetheart and brother explain that they have not played him false. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
