In the act of mailing letters to their sweethearts, they meet a young lady novelist who is waiting for the stage. They both become infatuated with her and quarrel, Harding shooting Church in the wrist. Realizing their terrible mistake in quarreling over a mere stranger, they decide they will remain pals, stick together always, and fulfill their promise to their sweethearts.
