The shade of trees, the water of the fountain refresh them. For a while, they feel wonderfully well, fulfilled, as if time had stopped. The only witness to their happiness is a cat : the houses seem to be alive but without anybody inside. After a while, the cat can't be seen anymore. It must be hiding in some place protected from the sun. Well, in spite of everything, the couple must go again. Just after driving off, the husband notices a small shock. He knows he has run over the cat. But he does not say anything to his wife not to spoil the feeling of happy contentment she is still experiencing. Written by Guy Bellinger See less
