She surprises him and his pal dividing their plunder and angrily threatens to expose him. He threatens her with a revolver, and in the struggle that follows he is shot. She thinks he is dead and becomes mentally deranged, wandering about until a wealthy woman finds her, and gives her a home. She recovers her reason but loses her memory. Her benefactress takes ill and dies, and Mary marries the doctor who attended her. The first husband discovers her and calls on her during the doctor's absence. The shock of meeting him brings back her lost memory and a realization of the awful situation she is in. Adams tries to blackmail her, and to get rid of him she makes an appointment for that evening. As the times approaches she loses her self-control and decides to commit suicide by poison. She mixes the draught and goes to say a last goodbye to her child in another room. Adams comes in and in a while his rum-scorched throat moves him to drink the poison, thinking it's just water. The doctor comes home as the wife enters the room. Brokenly she explains to him the situation. He forgives her and leads her away from the lifeless body of the man who caused her so much woe. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
