The ranch owner and his son-in-law laughingly follow him to see how he treats a pig and then mount their horses and ride away. They come to a camp in time to hear an argument among the cowboys. One has won by cheating and is being held to account. The ranch owner, when he learns of the facts, loses no time in sending him away. Simon, tired of milking sticks the cow with a pin, which naturally ends the beast's quiet, so Simon's task is finished. He gets punished for his act and follows Rose, the ranchman's daughter. She rides away in a buckboard and leaves him behind. The cowboy who cheated sees her departure and decides revenge could be gained through her. Simon follows him, carrying a pitchfork; and when Rob overtakes the buckboard and grabs the reins from Rose, he secretes himself in the back. Rob takes his captive to a shack where he imprisons her, but imagine his surprise at being confronted by Simon, who pins him to the shack with his pitchfork. Simon then releases Rose, who goes for her father. When he, with his followers, reaches the shack, Simon is still holding Rob at bay, with his own gun, while the poor fool munches an apple. Rob is set free and taken away, and Rose takes Simon home. Though he is caressed and made much of for saving Rose, he asks only for pie and still holds on to it when the cowboys raise him on their shoulders and carry him off.
