Then one day John is forced to serve as a seaman on a man-o-war. Jane is heartbroken over her lover's departure, and takes passage to France in the hope of finding him. The ship is attacked by the French and Jane is rescued by a French officer who takes her to his home. Later John finds her but she does not know him, as she has lost her memory in the fight.
