She says that it will be a good position for him as long as he behaves himself. But he must not flirt and must attend strictly to business. Phil, a reformer, with a beautiful daughter, Lucille, is a guest of her hotel. He has his eyes open all the time for anything to protest about. Clem arrives at the hotel in a milk wagon and carrying as his suitcase, a case of bottles. Judging from his tipsy condition, George, the hotel detective, is inclined to think he has been drinking something stronger than milk, for Clem spills them all over the hotel lobby. Of course, Clem is unknown and does not get a chance to tell who he is. Consequently he is thrown out by George often and hard until his aunt explains that he is her nephew. Even then, George regards him suspiciously, and when he sees him enter Lucille's room by mistake, he follows. But George is just in time to be discovered by Phil who thinks he is flirting with his daughter. Clem bumps into his aunt on the way out but he escapes by making her think George is at fault. A storm comes up and Clem gets his hands on a patent lightning attractor. This draws the lightning to him with disastrous results, the lightning playing many pranks about the place. The wild gale and rain storm increases until the hotel is rocking on its foundation. Clem leaves a window open and the place is soon flooded. Clem, George, Phil, Lucille and the woman who owns the hotel race from one room to another attempting to escape the flood waters. But the waters race through, wrecking the hotel and plunging them downstairs. Written by Press Sheet from Library of Congress See less
