When he dies suddenly, she is adopted by the contractor for whom her father has worked, and is given a place in the office. In her new home she is not permitted to indulge in tantrums. "Whenever you feel angry, county twenty before speaking," is the good advice of her foster mother, and by constant application of it she begins to get the better of her temper. The contractor's foreman tries to make love to her and is rebuffed. He becomes angry, and she gives him a slip of paper on which she has swiftly typed a message. It is: "When angry, county twenty before you speak." The contractor's son interferes as the foreman again approaches the girl, and bad blood is engendered. The bank messenger brings the payroll, and the young man places the money in the safe, to which only he and his father hold the combination. His love for the girl leads him to tell her the combination, and the foreman, listening behind a door, copies the figures on the first niece of paper he can fish out of his pocket. It is the girl's typewritten message. To cast suspicion on his rival, the foreman engages two rockmen to burglarize the safe. They leave the paper on the floor, where it is found by the girl after the contractor has suspected his son of theft. She goes to the foreman and recovers the money, which she places where it will seem to have been overlooked. The foreman sends his hirelings to kidnap his rival and the rockmen place their prisoner in an empty house. The girl, heartbroken by her lover's accusation that she took the money, leaves her foster parents and returns to her father's home, the empty house. She discovers her lover bound, and sets him free. Together they go for the sheriff, and the conspirators are rounded up. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
