For a long time she had planned to send a letter to daddy, and here was a letter that was just the thing. In her laborious hand she superscribed it "To my daddy," stole out and dropped it into the mail. When the money was missed, Townsend had his son arrested. The boy, just home from college, had fallen in love with the maid and asked his father to finance the union. When he refused his aid, the lovers had stolen away and married on the strength of the girl's savings. The dreadful accusation confounded them. Then the postman came in with the morning mail, and right on top of the sheaf of letters was the missing envelope, the letter to daddy, which a soulless government employee had stamped "Return to sender." The money was safe. Daddy asked his son's forgiveness, and they all scolded the little letter writer, smilingly. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
