As the pianist has not shown up, Alvaro accompanies Yolanda's dance on his violin, and they are a great hit. Alvaro falls in love with the dancer to the extent of canceling all his concerts just to be with her. Enrique Soria, an old friend of Alvaro's, suggests that he appear in a benefit concert organized by his wife Magda to ensure that the artist's name is not forgotten. Magda becomes infatuated with the violinist and dominates him remorselessly. Obliged to fight a duel with Enrique and then abandoned by Magda, the wretched Alvaro also loses Yolanda, who marries a well-to-do admirer. About twenty-five years later, Alvaro, now performing all over the world, has finally triumphed as an artist. He returns to New York, where he is visited by a young lady who looks like Yolanda. The woman, Yolanda's daughter, reminds Alvaro of his true love. See less
