The boys get wise and poke fun at him, but when the lady's picture arrives he becomes an immediate object of envy. He quickly sends her transportation and moving funds, and puts on all the fixings to meet her. When the fair Cynthia steps from the coach, instead of showing eighteen summers, she is decrepit from fifty frosty winters. Her heart, however, is warm and pulsive and she makes love to Jim in a way that abashes that rough rider. The boys disguise as highwaymen, attempt his abduction, but Cynthia thwarts their well-meant effort by securing his release at the point of a revolver. He is weary of her endearments, however, and when he finds the cook with a trap full of live mice he induces him to turn them loose in Cynthia's room. This so frightens and disgusts the ancient maiden that she decides to leave the ranch at once and relinquish all claims. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
