Eunice reluctantly marries Geoffrey, who proves a cruel and unfaithful husband, and soon her life is made even more miserable by the persistent attentions of Geoffrey's lawyer, Dan Carter. Jealous of Eunice's enduring, though subdued, affection for Don, Geoffrey invites him to the couple's home intending to lure him into a phony stock venture. That weekend Dan is shot, and although Don sees Eunice running from the body, he panics when the police arrive and climbs through the window into her room. Believing Don the murderer, Eunice nonetheless protects him by stating that he is her lover, whereupon Geoffrey files for divorce. In the end, Eunice's maid Martha confesses that because Dan had seduced her, she shot him while disguised in Eunice's clothing. Their suspicions cleared away, Don and Eunice are united. See less
