Finding that he needs to go West to see a man ...See moreOn the third day of their vacation in their country bungalow, the Hannibals are rudely interrupted by a telegram that calls Henry back to the office to attend to an important contract. Finding that he needs to go West to see a man personally about the matter, he writes his wife he may be gone some time. She rents the bungalow to four young ladies, then goes to her mother's. She neglects to inform Henry of what she has done, and when he succeeds in closing his business transactions much sooner than he expected, he is already on the way home. He arrives at the bungalow in the evening, and the girls, hearing a man on the porch outside, prepare for war. When Henry, thinking to surprise his wife, steals softly in, he is beaten and locked up in the pantry. After an awful fifteen minutes, he succeeds in making the girls realize their mistake and he is released. Wishing to make up for their ill-treatment of him, he is made guest of honor at a little party. Henry is soon enjoying himself immensely. Meanwhile, his wife, learning her telegram has not been delivered, surmises her husband has returned to the bungalow earlier than expected, and hurries there. She finds Henry as much at ease as though he had known the girls all his life. With a wild cry of rage she rushes upon them. The girls beat a hasty retreat and she turns on Henry, but he seizes her arms and forces her to listen to his explanations. He presents proof of the genuineness of his business trip, explains the mistake the girls made and Mrs. Hannibal finally has to laugh over the whole affair. The girls reenter the room and the dinner is resumed, this time with Mrs. Hannibal and her husband side-by-side celebrating his "homecoming." Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
